How do I transpose guitar music for alto saxophone?
I need to transpose guitar sheet music for an alto sax to play with me. Is it as simple as dropping the individual notes by 3 semitones?

close, you need to raise each note 3 semitones
Alto saxophone is in Eb, I’m fairly sure that it’s transposed down by a third, so yeah you’re on the right track! Each note sounds a third lower than it’s written.
